Bangkock
The Bugs can't have it all their own way. One for the hoards of bitten and tormented mosquito eaten FARANG.
The Big Bang
Yes Blog fans, you have guessed correctly and we are now in Bangkok and it is all you have read in the guide books and seen on TV and perhaps a whole lot more. Did i say it was hot here well the weather report would have it that is only 35 but I'm sure that they must be taking this temp inside uncle Kwok's fridge. Even my mates the mosquito's don't go out, so until about 5 minutes ago I was fine and hadn't been bitten in days, the buggers just stay in air conditioned buildings.
For the fans of retail therapy this place is Mecca, you name it and they have it and usually at a "velly good plice". The Thai's have a ploblem saying their "R"'s an example of this would be a very famous cartoon film starring Bob Hoskins called "Loger Labbit." Its so much fun here and so cheap!!! eating out is a culinary experience to be thoroughly enjoyed and one to partake in as often as needed as a very ample portion cooked infront of you and ready in seconds is yours for just over a pound sterling (no pund sign on comp). Sarah and I went out early this morning intent on visiting the flower market and short 2hr walk from where we are staying only to find out after sweating pints that it wasn't open on a Saturday morning. Enter helpfull Tuk Tuk driver who explains how for 80pence total we can have the Tuk Tuk ride of a lifetime visiting all those temples and Buddha's I had up to this point successfully managed to avoid like toothache. Anyway to make a long story even longer and more tedious I agreed. The "CATCH" its Saturday and there is a special thing going on where if he takes you to this shop and that shop he gets a free petrol coupon and all you have to do is look, Yeah Right!!!!
Anyway as we didn't have any money with us my right kidney has been left on deposit for the goods that they will deliver to our hotel (hovel) the day before we leave.
Your going to have to wait till the next exciting installment to find out what goodies we have bagged in Bangcock. (Such a Tease)

A phrase I picked up on Ko Tao fluently spoken by the native population both Thai and Burmese and by quite a few Farang (foreigner)
Phoenetically Chew-Harrrk-C0-Co-Thung
Roughly translated it means mind your step, or you will slip and fall on the half lung that was just spat on the tarmac as a result of the 40 Marlborough and bottle of Thai whiskey the ingested the previous night.
Well as Bugs (Bunny that is) might ssay "that's all folks."

Ko Tao
Hi Blog fans, Chris reporting the update from day four on Ko Tao. Its a very beautiful idilic island that is a scuba divers paradise or so I am told as I can't bloody scuba dive. Sarah left me for two days while she went off to do her Padi advanced open water diving certificate.
What was I to do????? Then it hit me I should pick a spot on a golden sunlit beach just 100 yds from the room and sit under a palm tree and chill the **** out with the obligatory beer or three and the travel guide for the next installment of our adventures.
Did I mention right now as I type this illegible drivel that it is 29 degrees C wait for it, wait for it, in the water. Yes good people I am melting and there is no relief not even in the water, it is that hot that ice looks for shade, but can you hear me complaining no because I love the heat its the bloody mosquito's that drive me mad. Last night at dinner I collected 9 bites through my shirt on my back, not funny when the marks are the size of tea plates. Still a small price to pay for this tropical paradise especially as i now carry a can of "Raid" (bug killer) in each pocket.
Sarah is getting restless and the weather is about to break from our morning tropical storm where the rain comes down in lumps rather than drops and the cracks of thunder actually shake the shack we are staying in, I meant villa not shack.

Sunrise in Ko Samoui
After a night of thunder, lightening and rain we wake to a beautiful morning.You can see a local Thai fisherman, the fish were jumping all around him

Later that evening Chris was singing that very famous Johnny Cash song......."burning ring of fire"!!!!

Update Ko Samui
Hi Guys,
Just a few lines as it looks like we may be leaving the very beautifull island of Ko Samui tomorrow or Thursday. We won't be going a million miles away just to another island called Ko Tao so Sarah can get the next level up diving certificate.
As you can see I lost some weight recently (Alloff Uptop) sounds like a Swedish Ski instructor, but it is nice in this weather although it still feels pretty strange.
We went on a Kayaking and snorkaling trip yesterday which was really knackering but also loads of fun. Is it me or does Kayaking sound like something you should be doing after drinking too much Japanese beer. Anyway it really was fab great scenery and we met a very cool young Dutch couple who met us for dinner last night and we spent the evening chatting and drinking vast quantities of beer. (No Kayaking this morning just a heavy head)
Well as no one really reads this I'm not going to spend my life writing it!!! Till the next exciting installment you all (Y'All) take care now. Wish you were here!!!???!?!?

Ko Samui Thailand
Well now we have been here for a while and we are just about getting used to the heat. Hua Hin was fun but very noisy and two days ago we took quite a trip down to the island of Kho Samui, its beautifull.
The weather is georgeous and the water is like a tepid bath. I have learned that "7 UP" is not only a drink here but the maximum amount of people you can get on a moped. Sarah woke up this morning to find herself in bed with the Budda with Nineteen humps, in actual fact it was me with my collection of mosquito bites.
Today we went for a short ride on the bike we have rented to a very serene waterfall that just happened to be 250 feet high thats after the 2 mile hike. We climbed it and I thought I was going to die, I don't think I have ever been quite so hot. The climb was all worth it in the end as we had our own private swimming pool at the top and the sparkling fresh water was amazingly cool and refreshing. It was only when we were half way up that we realised that we had left the camera on the bike so no photo's yet but please be patient and we will get some on here as soon as poss.

In both places including comming down the rock face at the waterfall we have met people from Pompey and duly given a chorus of Blue Army.

We've Landed in Hua Hin
After a very stress full few weeks we've finally made it and what a fantastic place it is. Thank you to everyone that supported us. It was very sad to leave, I was a mess at the airport, but the vodka helped!!!!
The pace of life is fantastically slow, mind you considering how hot & humid it is, you wouldn't want it any other way.
Dermot has a fantastic place (Pete he still has the bar, google it, "The Lord Nelson Hua Hin" the rooms are great & very reasonable). In this particular district 2 min walk from the beach there are 220 bars and nearly and equal proportion of "massage" venues, there's one opposite the bar, makes for entertaining viewing!!!!
Andrea, tell Marcel his clothing advise for Chris was spot on!!!!!
Next posting should include some photo's (hopefully Chris knows how!!) of our 4km hike in Kaeng Krachan National Park, were walking up to Nam Tok Tho Thip waterfall.
